Chestnut honey is obtained from colorful flowers of chustnet tree and it is collected from June to October. It is a spicy dark honey with a complex flavor. Known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, it is a source of many proteins, vitamins b and c and minerals.
Unlike many other the chestnut honey has a yellow-brown nearly black colour with very dark vibrant amber gloaming; its smell is woody and aromatic and its complex flavor definitely different. It isn’t very sweet to sweeten teas or infusions but its bitter taste is appreciated for savory meat and seasoned cheese dishes.
